Day 69 of #100daysofnetworks
Further Exploration of the GrooveSeeker Collaboration Graph
Hello everyone!
Today, I will do a continuation of the previous article. I have made some improvements to my code, unlocking further exploration of GrooveSeeker Event Collaboration Data.
If you are not sure what I am talking about, you should read these two articles:
Today’s article will be a continuation of day 68. But before I begin, I would like to make a few announcements.
Important Announcements
This week, we have done a GrooveSeeker expansion. We wanted to see more Poetry events, and we also wanted to begin to expand into Europe.
Before the expansion, our website was listing about 1100 upcoming events. Now, it is listing 2479 upcoming events. This is a 2.25x improvement.
Before the expansion, our website was listing 13 upcoming poetry events. It is now listing 48. This is a 3.69x improvement.
I am very happy with this increase. This expansion also impacts the analysis that went into this article, as the collaboration network itself has grown due to the expansion!
GrooveSeeker is incredible, and it often shows me events that I then want to go to. It is already improving my own life, and I hope you’ll enjoy it too.
It has its own Substack blog, if you would like to learn more.
Explorer Mode
Substack doesn’t give a lot of space for writing, so let’s get going! I will be concise today. I made a neat improvement to my analysis notebook. You can get the code, here.
I used GrooveSeeker data to map out collaborations (music, art, culture, etc) that have happened or will happen in the future. I then used the Degree Centrality score to determine a rank. Now, I can use this rank to sample some of the Ego Graphs that exist in the rank.
For instance, if I explore S-tier nodes, I will run into Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, etc.
D-tier is the lowest tier, and exploring it will highlight lesser-known or connected artists and venues.
You can explore the high end, the low end, or in between!
You can explore the Cosmograph network visualization, here. It is incredible.
S-Tier Artists and Venues
These are the most connected artists and venues.
Redcat! That’s neat. It looks like multiple separate groups of people who are all united by one group or thing.
Simple OSINT shows what it is. Clever naming! I like that! Here is their website!
Cool! I see Harmony Holiday on their website! This is a future event!
Let’s look at another graph.
Cool Graph. This event has a high degree centrality due to the number of connections it has.
Red Not Chili Peppers. Haha. I like that. I had not heard of them! Here is their website!
Joni Mitchell’s Ego Graph
Nice! I didn’t know that the Beastie Boys were in here!
D-Tier Artists and Venues
These are the least connected artists and venues. It is possible to climb the -tier ladder by becoming more connected, by meeting and collaborating with others. Graphs present opportunities, if you use them as opportunity maps.
Midnight Tyrannosaurus. Cool name. These two groups both perform at The Church Nightclub and the association was found that way! Neat! They should meet each other!
That’s All for Today
We are out of space, so that is all for today! Please check out the code! I have made the data available as well. I hope you have enjoyed the tour!
Please Support this Work!
I have written over 60 articles for this series. Each one takes about four hours of research, and several pages of writing and editing. Here are some ways you can support the blog!
If you can do only one thing, please mention this blog to your friends and colleagues. Please help it grow!
Please subscribe if you have not. This motivates me like nothing else!
BIGGEST HELP to the BLOG: Please consider upgrading if you are a subscriber. Thank you to all current paying subscribers for making this research and development possible! You can have Database access and minimal GraphRAG code if you want it.
Please buy my book to understand how I think about Natural Language Processing and Network Science combined.
I will open up early access to my second book Graph: Zero to Hero very soon. Please stay tuned.
Platform access to the Living Library of Knowledge is opening, NOW. Please let me know if you are interested in access.
Please reach out to me if interested in training related to Data Science, Data Engineering, Network Science, Knowledge Graphs, Artificial Intelligence, or anything else I write about. Feel free to message me on Substack or on LinkedIn!
Feel free to hang out in the comments and have a good time!
We have come so far since the very first day of the very first #100daysofnetworks. I love writing for this series. Thank you for being a part of it!
